The name Island Peak was given to the mountain in 1952 by Eric Shipton’s party who were on their way to explore the Barun Gorge. Seen from above Dingboche the mountain does indeed resemble an island in a sea of ice. In 1983 it was renamed Imja Tse, although for most people the descriptive name of Island Peak seems to have been retained.
Pick up from Int’l airport then transfer to Hotel
Wake up earl and drive to domestic airport with luggage, Fly to Lukla 2840m than trek to Phakding, 2610m
Trek from Phakding to Namche Bazaar 3500m
Acclimatization and rest day, you can spend the day by taking a day hike for panoramic Himalayan scenery. By relaxing and exploring Khumjung 3790m Everest view 3800m, and Namche Bazaar.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Tengboche 3800m
Trek from Tengboche to Dingboche 4410m
Trek from Dingboche to Labuche 4910m
Trek from Labuche to Gorakshep 5180m then trek to Everest Base Camp 5363m and back for overnight to Gorakshep.
An early morning excursion to Kalapattar 5550m about two hour climb. Provides the best vantage point for viewing Mt. Everest, unobstructed view of the high Himalaya.
Trek from Labuche to Chhukung vie Komgma La Passs 5535m
Trek from Chhukung to Island Peak Base Camp 5200m overnight at Tent.
Trek from Base Camp to High Camp Overnight at Tent.
Climb to summit 6189m then back to Base Camp overnight Tent.
Trek from base camp to Tenboche.
Trek from Tengboche to Namche Bazaar.
Trek from Namche Bazaar to Lukla.
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu then drive to Hotel.
