Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The Annapurna base camp Trek is conservative lay within the mountain range of central Nepal. The total length of the route varies from 160-320 km, which depends on motor transportation. The trek rises to an altitude of 5416m on the Thorung La pass, touching the edge of the Tibetan plateau.  Altitude is a rare problem on this trek though there is plenty of close up mountain views. Annapurna circuit trek is the popular trek in the region that circles the Annapurna range. The Kaligandaki river valley trek brings up the world’s deepest valley. The region includes the Trans Himalayan areas north of the main Himalayan ranges where the land is arid. Here the people are of the Tibetan community.

IT’S POPULARITY

The Annapurna Base Camp trek (ABC) is very popular because of its convenience and easy accessibility. After a seven-hour bus ride from Kathmandu, you will reach a place Pokhara near a lake which is a good place to start and end a trek because you can get many guest houses, restaurants, trekking equipment shop, and easy transportation.

UP AND DOWN

The ABC trek is usually 12 days round trip from Pokhara. The Annapurna region is not an administrative region. The area is located in two zones- Gandaki and Dhaulagiri. The districts in the Annapurna region are Baglung, Kaski, Lamjung, Mustang, and Myagdi. The Annapurna tracking region is easily accessible with just an hour or two away from Pokhara.  On average one can travel up to six and seven hours per day.

CULTURE

Historically the Annapurna peaks are the world’s most dangerous mountains to climb as per figure from 1990 and after. Similarly, Kangchenjunga has a higher death rate. Annapurna is a Sanskrit name that literally means Replete with food but normally translated as the goddess of the harvest. It is possible to do this trek in all seasons but in the winter the base camp can sometimes be closed due to the snow level but in spring the huge forests are in full blooms which give the trek an extra appeal.

SUSTAINABLE TOURISM

The Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP) aims to protect the region’s natural land and cultural heritage and also ensures sustainable benefits for local people. Anyone can do the ABC trek because the trails are safe and mountains are significant and the people are enthusiastic and cooperative.

In conclusion, there is no better time to visit this heaven on earth so one can visit anytime.
