As you gradually climb higher in the trail of the 10 day Rapid Everest Base Camp Trek the mercury level drops gradually. The forest vegetation changes to alpine shrub and the scenery becomes more dramatic towards the last village of Gorak Shep. You will then walk along the Khumbu glacier to Everest Base Camp (5,364m/17,600m) opposite the dreaded icefall. An early climb of Kala Patthar (5,550m/18,210ft) behind the village offers the most exquisite 360-degree panoramic views of Everest (8848m/29028ft) and other peaks.
